Project Narrative:

In its quest to increase access to quality Early Childhood Development Centers (ECD)services through the creation of conducive spaces for the children of Malawi aged between 2-6 years, the Ministry of Gender, Child Development, and Community Development (hereinafter referred to as “the Ministry”) asked UNICEF support withthe development of design options for ECD centres to be formally adopted and used as a standard in the construction of ECD centres across the country.

The ECD center design was to be child-friendly and its layout flexible to meet the catchment area requirements. In this regard, 4 Models were developed for implementation by the Ministry of Gender, Child Development and Community Development.
